WRITING
For College Students with Learning Differences & Disabilities
LEARNING YOUR WAY
Everyone learns differently. Some people do best with information presented visually, some orally, and still others kinesthetically. Know your learning style, so you can study and write in the way that comes most naturally.
Getting ACCOMMODATIONS
Duke University has a lot of resources designed specifically to make classwork and writing assignments easier for students with LDs. Make sure you know what tools are available, so you can take full advantage.
Beating Writer's Block
One last tip - throughout the whole writing process, don't forget to breathe! Take breaks. Stay positive. And don't get too bogged down in stress - papers end, but life goes on.

DEVELOPING A PROCESS
Writing a paper is a huge task. Instead of trying to tackle it all at once, break down the process into manageable steps. Have a prewriting plan, draft in chunks, and revise in steps, using all the resources you can find.
